At one time or another, we may have all stopped to gaze at a field of
shimmering poppies, or perhaps admired the age old beauty of trees. Of
all the different aspects of nature, they are perhaps the easier to
photograph, at least they don't run or fly away. But like all of
nature, they need to be viewed at certain times of the year, when they
are at their very best.
Being an arable farmer, wild flowers never cease to amaze me. For
all the herbicides that are sprayed on cereal land, there seems no end
to the endurance of some of the hardy species; they still keep coming
back each year, which is just as well.
But the woodlands holds a special place in our lives, as places
of shelter, refuge, and even where we may walk the winding forest
trail, through one of nature's most interesting retreats. Trees live
much longer than any other forms of life, and their green canopy
provides a habitat for countless birds and animals.
